The Princess story...............

In the early summer of 1991 Susan Mintz who at that time was known as Susan Talton Mitchell was the owner of "Cinderella's Dream" a very successful pageant attire business operated from her home. After other similiar businesses began to spring up she decided it was time to close up shop and move on to something different. She had attended many pageants in both a business role and as a pageant mom. With this knowledge and some extensive planning the very first Little Miss Goldsboro pageant was held in the fall of 1992 at the Paramount Theater in downtown Goldsboro.

On the heels of this successful pageant she again set out to direct another pageant and this time it was the first annual Little Miss Wayne County pageant. After the success of these two pageants it was suggested that she hold a state competition for the advancement of her winners along with the winners from a few other pageants held in eastern NC.

In the summer of 1993 the very first Princess of North Carolina State pageant was held at the Paramount Theater. Many of you that have attended our State Pageant know that our MC, Mrs. Ronda Malpass Jackson was the very first Overall Supreme Princess of North Carolina.

During the period from 1993 to 2000 the Princess of North Carolina pageant had much success operating soley east of interstate 95 in eastern North Carolina. There were only 10 to 12 preliminaries being held during this time. In 1999 Susan and Steve were reintroduced to one another after a twenty-six year separation. You see, as some of you may or may not know Susan & Steve were childhood sweethearts in the early seventies. Steve was 16 and Susan was almost 14 and they enjoyed a brief whirlwind romance before their lives took separate paths. Little did they know God had other plans for each of them. In the spring of 1999 they began dating. They held their first State pageant together that year and after a brief engagement were married on July the 8th of 2000. To the amazement of Susan and others, Steve took to pageants as if he had been involved in them all his life. After he saw what she had built he urged her to expand into the western part of the state. He helped bring Princess into the twenty first century with the addition of this website.

In early 2002 they traveled to Hickory NC to host the first preliminary pageant in western NC. The Princess of Hickory pageant had 13 contestants and today is entering its 7th year. The State pageant has grown since that time and now includes more than two dozen preliminary pageants across the State. For the past two years Princess of North Carolina and its State Queens have supported the Victory Junction Camp for kids located in Randleman, NC as their community service platform.

Now entering our 17th year PONC awards over 25,000 dollars in scholarship bonds and prizes.
